Book of Common Prayer · Holy Communion (1662)
Versions of the Communion Office
The base text is the 1662 Communion office (plain text, source). Earlier and later rites are listed below, beginning with the early Irish and medieval English orders (translated into English by AnglicanGuide from the Latin editions, which are linked; Ælfric’s Old English homilies in Benjamin Thorpe’s translation). Public-domain texts are given in full; copyrighted modern rites, and texts not separately transcribed, have a short note and a link. Use the Compare tab on the Baptism page to read any of them beside 1662.

- York and Hereford Missals (1500)
Not separately imported. Maskell prints the York and Hereford ordinaries beside Sarum: the canon is the same Roman text, but the preparation, offertory prayers, the priest's communion devotions and the ending differ in detail (Hereford, for example, has its own offertory and communion prayers, and York ends without the Last Gospel in some books). - Church of England, Alternative Service Book: Rite A and Rite B (1980)
Text under copyright and not reproduced. Rite A (modern language) and Rite B (traditional) followed the Series 2 and 3 pattern: Gloria near the beginning, the Peace, four eucharistic prayers with anamnesis and a petition for the Spirit, the fraction before communion, and the 1662 order available as an option. Text under copyright and not reproduced. Order One (in modern and traditional language) offers eight eucharistic prayers (A–H); Order Two follows the 1662 sequence, in 1662 wording or lightly revised. 1662 itself remains authorised. Text under copyright and not reproduced. The Anglican Standard Text keeps the 1662/1928 shape and wording with the Decalogue or Summary, Comfortable Words, Prayer of Humble Access and an epiclesis in the 1928/1789 position; a Renewed Ancient Text offers a modern-language prayer.
