Dunkeld: the Litany of the Culdees (Scottish) (present form c. 1484–1515, said to rest on an older Culdee text)

English translation by AnglicanGuide from the Latin. Read the Latin edition. Words in [brackets] are supplied or summarise omitted matter.

The processional litany said to have been sung by the Keledei (Culdees) of Dunkeld, with long lists of Scottish and Irish saints by order, deprecations from "caterans and robbers" and "wolves and every evil beast", and suffrages for the people of Alba. Haddan and Stubbs judge it a late form of a possibly genuine older document. Translated in full by AnglicanGuide.

The Lord's Prayer

Let us pray. Our Father, etc.

The Prayer

Almighty and most bountiful God, we humbly entreat thy Majesty that, through the wonderful merits and prayers of the saints here named, and through the mighty intercession of thy holy Mother Mary and of all the patriarchs, prophets, apostles, martyrs, bishops, abbots, confessors and monks, virgins and widows, who reign with thee in heaven, thou wouldest grant us pardon and remission of all our sins, increase of thy heavenly grace, and thy effectual help against all the snares of our enemies, visible and invisible; that our hearts, given to thy commandments alone, may at length, after the end of this mortal life, be worthy to see the beauty and glory of those saints in the kingdom of God and to rejoice with them; through our Lord Jesus Christ our Redeemer, to whom with the Father and the Holy Ghost be honour and power and dominion, world without end. Amen.
