The Lord's Prayer and the Preces
Our Father [silently].
V. And lead us not into temptation. R. But deliver us from evil.
V. O Lord, shew thy mercy upon us. R. And grant us thy salvation.
V. Let thy mercy come upon us, O Lord. R. Thy salvation, according to thy word.
V. We have sinned with our fathers. R. We have done unjustly, we have wrought iniquity.
V. O Lord, deal not with us after our sins. R. Neither reward us according to our iniquities.
V. Let us pray for every degree of the Church. R. Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness, and let thy saints rejoice.
V. For our brothers and sisters. R. Save thy servants and thine handmaids, O my God, which put their trust in thee.
V. For all Christian people. R. O Lord, save thy people, and bless thine heritage; govern them, and lift them up for ever.
V. Peace be within thy strength, O Lord. R. And plenteousness within thy towers.
V. May the souls of thy servants and handmaids rest in peace. R. Amen.
V. Lord, hear my prayer. R. And let my cry come unto thee.
V. The Lord be with you. R. And with thy spirit. Let us pray.
The Collects
O God, whose property is ever to have mercy and to spare: receive our petition, that we, and all thy servants who are bound by the chain of sins, may by the pity of thy great goodness be mercifully absolved. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Almighty, everlasting God, who alone workest great marvels: send down upon thy servants the bishops, and upon all the congregations committed to them, the spirit of thy saving grace; and that they may please thee in truth, pour upon them the continual dew of thy blessing. Prayer.
We beseech thee, almighty God, that thy servant N. our king, who by thy mercy hath received the government of this realm, may also receive increase of all virtues; that, adorned with them, he may avoid the enormity of vice, overcome his enemies, and come graciously unto thee, who art the way, the truth and the life. Amen.
O God, who by the grace of the Holy Ghost hast poured the gifts of charity into the hearts of thy faithful: grant to thy servants and handmaids, our brothers and sisters, for whom we beseech thy mercy, health of mind and body; that they may love thee with all their strength, and with all their love perform the things that please thee.
O God, from whom all holy desires, all good counsels and all just works do proceed: give unto thy servants that peace which the world cannot give; that both our hearts may be set to obey thy commandments, and also that by thee, the fear of our enemies being removed, our times may be peaceful under thy protection. Prayer.
Shew forth upon us, O Lord, we beseech thee, in thy mercy, thine unspeakable loving-kindness; that thou mayest both loose us from all our sins, and graciously deliver us from the punishments which for them we deserve. Prayer.
O God, the Creator and Redeemer of all the faithful: grant to the souls of all the faithful departed the remission of all their sins; that through devout supplications they may obtain the pardon which they have always desired. Prayer.
By thy loving-kindness, O Lord, we beseech thee, loose the bonds of all our sins; and at the intercession of the blessed and glorious ever-virgin Mary, Mother of God, with all thy saints, keep us thy servants and all catholic people in all holiness; cleanse from vices all who are joined to us by kindred, familiarity, confession or prayer, and all Christians; adorn them with virtues; grant us peace and health; remove enemies visible and invisible; drive away pestilence; bestow charity on our friends and enemies; and to all the faithful, living and departed, grant life and eternal rest in the land of the living. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
