Antiphonary of Bangor: the intercession for the departed (Irish) (written at Bangor, Co. Down, c. 680–691)
English translation by AnglicanGuide from the Latin. Read the Latin edition. Words in [brackets] are supplied or summarise omitted matter.
The oldest British or Irish witness here: no burial order, but its litany of versicles for all estates of the Church includes one for the faithful departed, given here alone, an early use of "Requiem aeternam".
